I don't understand

"The body of a missing 12-year-old whose uncle allegedly planned to force her into a sex ring the day she disappeared was found Wednesday in Randolph, not far from his house.

State Police Director Col. James Baker said Brooke Bennett's body was found about 4:45 p.m. and her family had been notified."

Mans Inhumanity to man. It's rampant and pervasive. Granted, Brooke's Ordeal is horrific. So many times though, Man inhumanity to man is reported regularly in the news. How much of this kind of news do we not hear about? How many Booke's and others are dismissed as so much ... what? A Toy? I can't even get my mind around this sort of thing.

Then there is the fact that it was family. An Uncle and a father-in-law. Granted, they are innocent until proven guilty in American Justice. But you have a 14 year old girl that had already gone through what this 12 year old went through and managed to survive.

Apparently this very medium, The Internet, was used to a great degree in the demise of this very young lady. This wonder of technology and a great benefit to mankind can and is used to degrade humans and apparently used to help kill, or at the least rape and mutilate another of God's special creatures.

It is really sad that in the year 2008 we are still dealing with this sort of thing. I guess mankind's inhumanity to man will survive forever. It will always be a reminder of what we are capable of if allowed to degrade and abuse our fellow man enough.

God Help us all.

try not to dwell in the negative energy, even though i know that's hard. i feel so sad for that little girl and for her loved ones.

there is a wonderful author, Anthony De Mello, whose work i admire quite a lot. he is a late Jesuit priest who was a bit esoteric and Eastern in his teaching (he was renounced by the Vatican after his death, although his teachings have recently been accepted once again). in any case, he said, and i paraphrase: Yes, the world is messed up, and yes, the world seems crazy, but right here, right now, you are ok. YOU ARE OK.

i have kept that with me for years, because it's true. if we dwell on the external illusion of negativism, we not only experience it, we participate in it. the fact of the matter is that the world is beautiful. there are so many lovely experiences and conditions to experience.

that the lower minds tend to feed off such negativity (and that those minds seem to be dominating things like media, etc.) is the very reason they seek out stories such as the one you've cited and then disseminate it to the masses.

it's to make us think that this kind of behavior is the rule, when actually it is not. the rule is that all men have goodness in them, and that most men will act accordingly when put to the test. it's hard to see that when you watch the news, because that is not what they wish to show us, but the more people believe in the goodness of man, the more we will see it evidenced in our world.

take heart. :)

I'm sorry to be so slow to respond. Actually I am thinking another post needs to come from this. Thanks for the response.

This is a great post, and it is never enough to remind and warn about such dangers. Wicked and crazy people are our there, unfortunately.
